It's September already and Kaylee hit 7 months old on Labor Day. I'm just a little behind in posting everything!
The older she gets, the more personality she gets, the sweeter and funnier she gets. She just cracks us up on a daily basis. Lately she has been squealing none stop. It is this high pitched screech that she thinks is just absolutely hilarious (and secretly I do too). I've been working on "mama" and "dada" but nothing yet, except babbles and screeches!
She is rolling and army crawling everywhere, we can't take our eyes off her and I know it is going to get so much worse once she is officially crawling. She can pull herself up on to anything and everything she can reach if she is in the sitting position. I am convinced she could do so much more but she gets frustrated easily and starts crying (Wonder who she gets that from?) especially with crawling. I have started to baby proof by putting the socket covers on our outlets. I still need to do the cabinets and drawers as well as put up the baby gate, but I'm running behind on everything so hopefully I don't wait until my drawers and cabinets have been emptied and she falls down the steps to do it!
::6 Month Favorites::
1) Sippy Cup - I don't know that this is a favorite, just something that we are working on. She doesn't quite understand how to tilt the cup up yet. Just kinda chews on the tip and when she does get it tiled back mostly gets water everywhere!
2) Cart/Highchair cover - We just recently realized she is able to sit in the shopping cart by herself. We used our cart cover which is awesome because it has shoulder straps. She loves it.
3) Stacking cups - I'm not sure if I've put this on the monthly favorites in the past but she really loves these and the noises they make. They stack, you can make them into balls, or you can put them all together into one big ball. It also comes with a little smiley face ball that rattles.
4) Mirror - Again not sure if this is a repeat but she will try to give herself kisses, smiles, laughs and talks to herself. If she sees the mirror across the room she immediately tries to get to it!
5) Puffs - We just started giving her these a week ago and she can't quite put them in her mouth. She picks them up but then can't get them out of her hand into her mouth. I think she has done it once. But they are great for while we are eating. They keep her occupied for a little while.
6) Bath toys - She has this container full of bath toys (there are probably about 15 little animals) and she will grab the same one (a green seahorse) every time. We decide he needed a name but never quite named him... She chews on his nose the entire bath. It's hilarious.
::Stats::
15.2 lb :: 12th %
25.5 inches :: 13th %
Didn't really get much bigger this past month! It's all the moving she has been doing!
::Milestones::
{Pulling herself up from the sitting position}
If we position her just right she can pull herself up on the couch/ottoman. She climbs and pulls up on just about anything she can get her hands on. She's a strong little girl!
{Gets on all fours/army crawling}
One step (no pun intended) closer to crawling. She can get on her hands and knees but doesn't quite know what to do from there. She does a teepee stance on her toes and hands. Then she just lays down and resorts to the army crawl by dragging herself by her arms.
::Sleeping::
{Night}
We have been on a great sleeping run here lately! Fingers crossed it's only forward from here!! Her bedtime is 7:30, I nurse her and put her down. She has been falling asleep on her own which is amazing. Usually as soon as I give her the pacifier she is lights out, but occasionally she will play/talk to her self for a little while before falling asleep. Yay for no more tears at bedtime! She is still waking anywhere between 2:30-4:30 to eat (I really am going to stop this soon, I know I've been saying that for a month now, but really...). She goes right back to sleep until I get her up at 6:00 to feed her before I leave for work. She falls back asleep for a mini 30 minute nap until Chad gets her up at 6:30 to get ready to go to the sitter. On the weekends, I don't wake her at 6:00 but she usually gets up about that time (6:15ish) and says "um excuse me, I was supposed to get fed 15 minutes ago!" Then she may or may not fall back asleep until 7:00-8:00.
{Naps}
She takes 2-3 naps a day. The first two are anywhere from 1.5 hrs - 2.5 hrs and depending on when she gets up from her second nap, she may or may not take a mini 30 minute nap around dinner time (5:00). She USUALLY goes down for her naps without a fuss if she is pretty exhausted. Sometimes she fights the dinner time nap, but if she doesn't take it she is a cranky baby!!
::Eating::
We are still breastfeeding. She really loves most foods we give her with a couple exceptions. New foods she has had: yogurt, chicken (hated it), avacado, broccoli/cheddar soup, puffs, blueberries, peaches, plums, and an assortment of mixed baby foods from the store.
::Misc::
{First night away from home}
We stayed in a hotel for Labor Day. She did amazing! Slept just like she does at home. She woke up around 6:15 playing and talking to her self. We finally picked her up at 6:30 since we weren't getting anymore sleep with her babbles, but it was adorable!
{Back to the sitter}
Chad started back to work mid-August and Kaylee went back to the sitter. She absolutely loves it there. She gets to play with the other babies and watch them. The kids keep her very entertained. Sometimes we wonder if her nighttime fussiness is just her saying "You two bore me!" after being completely entertained all day long!
She is absolutely hilarious and sweet. She loves to give kisses (open mouthed) and hugs! I could just squeeze her little chubby thighs all day!
We love you baby girl! Happy 7 months!
