Baby Kaylee {10 Months}

She just gets more fun every day. She is definitley getting to the age where she understands what we are saying to a certain degree. She is funny and lovable. She laughs at everything, especially her mom and dad!

::10 Month Favorites::

1) Tickling - She loves to be tickled and will laugh and laugh. It's the cutest!

2) Tug-of-war - This is her current favorite game. She holds out something for you to take (usually her socks that she has pulled off) and when you grab it, she holds on tight and pulls it away from you, then she laughs... Rotten girl =)

3) Pushing/walker - She loves to walk around holding on. She will push things across the room holding on to them. She loves the walker. She thinks it is so fun to walk. I have a feeling she will be walking soon!

::Stats::

No stats this month! I never got a chance to weigh her.

::Milestones::

{First words}

Kaylee's first word was "mama", she also loves to say "baba".

::Sleeping::
{Night}
 She goes to bed around 7:00, sometimes later, sometimes earlier. She sleeps until 4-530 eats and goes back down for another hour or so. Usually gets up between 6:30-7:00. We have had a few amazing mornings where she slept until 7:30 and even once until 8:30!

{Naps}
She is back to taking about 3 shorter naps a day including a late nap. I was initially afraid to give her the late nap, even though she desperately needed it, because I was afraid she wouldn't go to bed at night. But she does!

::Eating::
We have started to give her formula 1-2 times a day. She gets it for breakfasst and then sometimes at night before bed. She seems to like it okay and didn't give us any problems. The girl loves to eat! Still breastfeeding for now, although we are weaning and she is pretty much weaning herself. Her favorite foods this month were: mashed potaotes, pumpkin pie, cookies, ham & cheesecake!

::Misc::

{Thanksgiving}

Kaylee had her first Thanksgiving this past month. We celebrated with our family at Grandma's house. She ate lots of good food and loved playing with her cousins. She was such a happy girl that day and she loved being the center of attention.

Baby Kaylee {9 Months}

This is my favorite age so far! She is so much fun! Playing with her toys, with us, interacting with her environment, exploring the world around her. It is so fun to just watch her discover new things and learn about her surroundings.

 ::8 Month Favorites::

 1) Fall - Pumpkin festivals, cute Halloween outfits, cool weather and so much more! We love this time of year and all that goes with it! It's just the beginning of the holiday season and we are looking forward to all the celebrations with Kaylee! It will definitely be the best holiday season yet!

2) Kisses - "Kaylee, give mommy kisses" She turns her head in response and opens her mouth and gives you a big ole wet kiss! Open mouthed kisses from her are THE BEST!

3) Peek-a-boo - Anything from the original "Where's Kaylee? Peek-a-boo", to jumping out from behind a door or corner. She LOVES it. She gets sooo excited and her whole body shakes and she laughs and laughs. It is our favorite game!

::Stats::

16.7 lbs :: 15th%
27.5 in :: 50th%

Still our little girl but she sure does like to eat! She must burn it all off with all the moving she does!

The doctor told us at her 9 month visit that he thinks she might be late getting teeth. He said he doesn't feel anything and wouldn't expect her to have any before 1 year.

 ::Milestones::

{Eats real food}
We try to give her whatever we are eating for dinner. She LOVES real food and has started refusing baby food. I'm struggling to think of new things to give her that she can eat.

{Cruising}
She is on the move!!! She pulls up and walks around anything she can get her hands on. I joke and say she is 9 months going on 3 years old. She thinks she can walk and she definitely tries! I don't think it will be long until she is running around the house!

::Sleeping::

{Night}
 We bumped her bedtime up to 7:00 and are trying an array of sleep training strategies to see what works. We will get there, she's just not the best sleeper. I can lay her down for nighttime or a nap and she will fall asleep with NO problems! It's staying asleep that is her issue! Seriously not looking forward to the time change this weekend...

{Naps}
Naps are the same as last month, two naps a day for a total of about 3 hours of daytime sleep.  Occasionally she still takes a short third nap.

::Eating::
Average day:
5:00-6:00 nurse
8:30 nurse + Breakfast (cereal and fruit)
11:30 nurse + Lunch (Meat & Cheese & Veggie)
1:00-2:00 snack (Fruit or finger food)
2:30 nurse
5:00 nurse + Dinner (Usually some of whatever we are having - Meat, cheese..etc)
7:00 nurse

(plus 1-2 nighttime nursing sessions, but we are weaning these out.)

 ::Misc::

{Halloween}
We celebrated Kaylee's first Halloween! She didn't really have a costume, just a bunch of cute outfits that she wore throughout the month. She couldn't eat candy or walk around this year (plus it was super cold and rainy) so we stayed in and handed candy out.

Kaylee you are so sweet. I love you more and more each day. Your smile melts my heart and I can't give you enough hugs and kisses in one day. Your only 9 months old but you are already fun, energetic, loving, sweet and adorable. Mommy and Daddy can't wait to see what you do next!

Baby Kaylee {8 Months}

 This past month has been so much fun! Kaylee is playing and learning and growing. She gives lots of smiles and everyone says what a happy baby she is!

 She loves to laugh and smile and give hugs.

 ::8 Month Favorites::

 1) Climbing - She loves to climb on the couch, on mom, on dad, on the bed, on her toys, the exersaucer...etc. She tries to climb anything she can get her hands on.

 2) Light up toys - She got her first light up toys this month. One is a borrowed hand me down ball that she loves to watch. She also has a baby cell phone that lights up and plays music. She loves to watch the lights and listen to the music. We also got her a little mini play table that she loves because she can pull up on it.

 3) Hats - I've started a new hashtag #kayleeinahat because she just LOVES when we put hats on her. She is too adorable in them too.

4) Mesh crib liner - I broke down and bought the mesh BREATHABLE liner for her crib. This serves me no other purpose but to keep her from throwing her paci out of the crib at night. And that makes it totally worth it. Also, as a secondary perk, keeps her arms and legs in the crib and has a tiny bit of cushion for those times she crams her head against the top of the crib and wakes up with red marks on her head...

::Stats::

 16 lbs :: 11th %

No height... she won't sit still long enough!!

 ::Milestones::

{Crawling}
She is totally capable of crawling but she just chooses not to. She REALLY wants to walk but we have awhile for that. Instead of crawling she puts her feet down and tries to stand up and when she realizes she can't do that she just sits down. She has crawled and she can do it, she just usually prefers not to! HAHA! Chad tells her she is lazy. Just in the past couple days she has really started to pick up crawling.

{Feeding herself}
She loves to eat! And she is a pro at feeding herself puffs and pieces of bread. She can feed herself other things too but mostly they stick her her fingers and she can't get them in her mouth. She ends up wearing more of it than eating it!

{Assisted steps}
If she is standing and we hold her hands she can take mini steps while holding on to us. Also, I've seen her on the monitor cruise around her crib holding on to the railing and she will take as tep of two while holding onto furniture or us. Although she can crawl, she doesn't do it all that often, I really wouldn't be surprised if she just skips right to walking.

 ::Sleeping::

{Night}
She hit a bit of a sleep regression along with her growth spurt, which can be typical. She started getting up 3-4 times a night again. She is back down to twice a night now. I also think all the traveling and hotel stays this month threw her off. Other obstacles are separation anxiety and she wakes up in the night wanting to practice her new skills, particularly standing up in her crib!

{Naps}
She is napping twice a day now. Her morning nap is usually around 9am and lasts anywhere from 1-2.5 hours. Her afternoon nap depends on how her morning nap went. She usually balances them out, if her morning nap was short her afternoon nap will be long and vice versa. She sleeps anywhere from 3-4.5 hours total during the day. Occasionally if she ends her afternoon nap super early she will take a cat nap at night but that is rare and usually only happens if she are in the car!

::Eating::
Still breastfed. New foods this month included: bread & pizza sauce. I've hit a bit of a baby food rut! Trying to think of some new foods she can try. She eats pieces of some foods like green beans and bananas. She loves to try whatever we are having for dinner that night.

 ::Misc::

{First travel}
She went on her first and second road trips this month, to Nashville. She did absolutely amazing both times! Slept most of the drives to and from and was a peach during the trip even with the time change =)

{Flower Girl}
 Kaylee was the flower girl in my aunt's wedding a couple of weeks ago. She was adorable! She got a bit fussy in the wagon but as soon as we started down the aisle she jsut looked around at all the people staring at her.

Kaylee, you are our sweet, fun, energetic & beautiful little 8 month old and we love you more than anything in the world!

{Baby Kaylee} 7 Months

It's September already and Kaylee hit 7 months old on Labor Day. I'm just a little behind in posting everything!

 The older she gets, the more personality she gets, the sweeter and funnier she gets. She just cracks us up on a daily basis. Lately she has been squealing none stop. It is this high pitched screech that she thinks is just absolutely hilarious (and secretly I do too). I've been working on "mama" and "dada" but nothing yet, except babbles and screeches!

She is rolling and army crawling everywhere, we can't take our eyes off her and I know it is going to get so much worse once she is officially crawling. She can pull herself up on to anything and everything she can reach if she is in the sitting position. I am convinced she could do so much more but she gets frustrated easily and starts crying (Wonder who she gets that from?) especially with crawling. I have started to baby proof by putting the socket covers on our outlets. I still need to do the cabinets and drawers as well as put up the baby gate, but I'm running behind on everything so hopefully I don't wait until my drawers and cabinets have been emptied and she falls down the steps to do it!

 ::6 Month Favorites::

 1) Sippy Cup - I don't know that this is a favorite, just something that we are working on. She doesn't quite understand how to tilt the cup up yet. Just kinda chews on the tip and when she does get it tiled back mostly gets water everywhere!

 2) Cart/Highchair cover - We just recently realized she is able to sit in the shopping cart by herself. We used our cart cover which is awesome because it has shoulder straps. She loves it.

3) Stacking cups - I'm not sure if I've put this on the monthly favorites in the past but she really loves these and the noises they make. They stack, you can make them into balls, or you can put them all together into one big ball. It also comes with a little smiley face ball that rattles.

 4) Mirror - Again not sure if this is a repeat but she will try to give herself kisses, smiles, laughs and talks to herself. If she sees the mirror across the room she immediately tries to get to it!

 5) Puffs - We just started giving her these a week ago and she can't quite put them in her mouth. She picks them up but then can't get them out of her hand into her mouth. I think she has done it once. But they are great for while we are eating. They keep her occupied for a little while.

 6) Bath toys - She has this container full of bath toys (there are probably about 15 little animals) and she will grab the same one (a green seahorse) every time. We decide he needed a name but never quite named him... She chews on his nose the entire bath. It's hilarious.

::Stats::

15.2 lb :: 12th %

25.5 inches :: 13th %

Didn't really get much bigger this past month! It's all the moving she has been doing!

 ::Milestones::

{Pulling herself up from the sitting position}
If we position her just right she can pull herself up on the couch/ottoman. She climbs and pulls up on just about anything she can get her hands on. She's a strong little girl!

{Gets on all fours/army crawling}
One step (no pun intended) closer to crawling. She can get on her hands and knees but doesn't quite know what to do from there. She does a teepee stance on her toes and hands. Then she just lays down and resorts to the army crawl by dragging herself by her arms.

 ::Sleeping::

{Night}
We have been on a great sleeping run here lately! Fingers crossed it's only forward from here!! Her bedtime is 7:30, I nurse her and put her down. She has been falling asleep on her own which is amazing. Usually as soon as I give her the pacifier she is lights out, but occasionally she will play/talk to her self for a little while before falling asleep. Yay for no more tears at bedtime! She is still waking anywhere between 2:30-4:30 to eat (I really am going to stop this soon, I know I've been saying that for a month now, but really...). She goes right back to sleep until I get her up at 6:00 to feed her before I leave for work. She falls back asleep for a mini 30 minute nap until Chad gets her up at 6:30 to get ready to go to the sitter. On the weekends, I don't wake her at 6:00 but she usually gets up about that time (6:15ish) and says "um excuse me, I was supposed to get fed 15 minutes ago!" Then she may or may not fall back asleep until 7:00-8:00.

{Naps}
She takes 2-3 naps a day. The first two are anywhere from 1.5 hrs - 2.5 hrs and depending on when she gets up from her second nap, she may or may not take a mini 30 minute nap around dinner time (5:00). She USUALLY goes down for her naps without a fuss if she is pretty exhausted. Sometimes she fights the dinner time nap, but if she doesn't take it she is a cranky baby!!

 ::Eating::
We are still breastfeeding. She really loves most foods we give her with a couple exceptions. New foods she has had: yogurt, chicken (hated it), avacado, broccoli/cheddar soup, puffs, blueberries, peaches, plums, and an assortment of mixed baby foods from the store.

::Misc::

{First night away from home}
We stayed in a hotel for Labor Day. She did amazing! Slept just like she does at home. She woke up around 6:15 playing and talking to her self. We finally picked her up at 6:30 since we weren't getting anymore sleep with her babbles, but it was adorable!

{Back to the sitter}
Chad started back to work mid-August and Kaylee went back to the sitter. She absolutely loves it there. She gets to play with the other babies and watch them. The kids keep her very entertained. Sometimes we wonder if her nighttime fussiness is just her saying "You two bore me!" after being completely entertained all day long!

 She is absolutely hilarious and sweet. She loves to give kisses (open mouthed) and hugs! I could just squeeze her little chubby thighs all day!

 We love you baby girl! Happy 7 months!
