Kaylee's Nursery

I'm finally getting around to printing some pictures and finishing up Kaylee's Nursery.

The nursery used to be our office. It was this obnoxious shade of blue that Chad picked out when we moved in. So, the first thing to do was paint! I really wanted all the permanent things in the room to be white and gray so that it could easily be switched to a boy's room if the next bambino is a boy! So the paint color and all the furniture is a nice neutral.

We found a dresser on Craigslist and Chad refinished it. I posted about the refinishing here. I got frames and wall accessories from Ikea and Hobby Lobby. This wall is probably my favorite part of the nursery. Kaylee's aunt Jenna made an adorable print for this wall (lower left corner) with her name and birth stats.

We got bookshelves from Ikea and at my baby shower everyone brought books to fill the shelves. Kaylee loves the books, we read to her every morning and night.

The glider is so comfortable, which is really important for all those middle of the night feedings. The glider and crib are both from Target. Her bedding is also from Target, as is her noise machine (which she loves) and humidifier.

I made the growth chart from a 1x8x6 from Lowes and some paint and numbers from Hobby Lobby. The letters above her bed are from Hobby Lobby as well. I was so glad to find curtains to match the color perfectly at Walmart.

Although she is still too little to play with anything in them, she has two toy boxes in the corner of her room ready for her when she gets a little bigger!

I am absolutely in love with how her nursery turned out. I think it is adorable and something that will be versatile and easy to covert for the next baby.

Baby Kaylee {1 Month Old}

I can't believe our baby girl is 1 month old today (I am so far behind on blogging, there are so many things and pictures I still need to post)! Time is truly flying by! She definitely has us wrapped around her little finger and we love her more than we ever thought possible!

Mommy forgot her headband :(

A little bit about baby girl at this point:

~~We weighed her on the home scale and she checked in at an even 8 lbs. We will see the official weight at her 1 month check up Wednesday

~~We love it when she smiles and laughs (We know this is probably gas but we like to think it's smiles and laughs) It is the most adorable thing in the entire world!

~~She's still nursing, eats like a champ.

~~She isn't much of a sleeper. She goes for about 3 hour stretches at most and can't quite make it the whole night without some long stretch of awake time!

~~We think she might have some belly aches and pains :( She will have these bouts of painful screaming and grunting and moaning followed by farts and poops. We have been using Tummy Calm and hoping that this passes quickly (we think this is why she doesn't sleep well).

~~And well, duh, she LOVES her mommy & daddy -- especially all of our cuddle time we get together :)

1 Month Favorites

1. Cuddly, soft blankets ~~ Baby girl will fall asleep instantly if you wrap her in a nice, warm, soft blanket!

2. Boppy ~~ We have stopped using this but in the first few weeks, this was crucial to helping her latch during nursing sessions! I'm sure once she starts sitting up and moving around we will be using it again!

3. Whale of a tub bathtub ~~ She enjoys bath time we think. She rarely cries when we give her a bath, only when she gets too cold!

4. Medela Breast Pump ~~ She has a lot of trouble nursing on my left side, so I have been pumping when it is that sides turn. This has worked out well but obviously takes twice as long to feed her. Hoping she gets over whatever it is quickly and we can go back to nursing.

5. Activity Gym ~~ We try at least once a day to lay her down in her activity gym. She really likes to look at all the different colors. I usually turn her over for tummy time but she doesn't last long, we will keep working on it!

6. Long sleeve onesies/PJ's with hand mittens ~~ She has daggers for nails and has scratched up her face (and my chest) more times than I can count. The shirts and PJ's that have the built in hand covers are amazing! Along the same lines are PJ's that zip (as opposed to button) makes night time diaper changes MUCH easier!

7. Car seat & Stroller ~~ she LOVES to be in her car seat and stroller. She loves to be moving! We recently borrowed a swing so that may be on next months favorite things!

8. Tummy Calm ~~ This is an all natural alternative to Simethicone gas drops (which we also tried). I'm not sure if they are really doing the job all the way, as I mentioned she still has painful fits. But I do know that when I stop giving them to her she gets worse. So unfortunately these are necessary. I'm interested to see what the doctor has to say Wednesday!

This first month has been amazing. The most life-changing experience in the best way possible. I thank God each day for our little blessing. She is wonderful. Time to go snuggle with her :)
