Baby J {5 Months}

We hit a few road bumps this past month but I think we came out on the up side! Can't believe this sweet little face is 5 months old! Time is surely going faster and faster by the day!

5 Month Favorites::

His sister - He loves to watch her from his jumper. He will laugh at her and smile at her from across the room. He just lights up in the morning if she goes in the say hello. She yells in his face and "tickles" his a little too hard, but he just eats it up with a smile on his face!

Anything he can put in his mouth - The days of endless drool and everything in the mouth are among us!

Stats::

 No height and weight this month since we don't go back to the doctor until 6 months!

Height: ??

Weight: ??

Teeth: None but lots and lots of drool!

Clothes: 6 month. Also some 6-9 month!

Signature Moves::

{Laughing}
Although they aren't big belly laughs yet (can't wait for those). He has the cutest little giggle, especially when his sister is playing with him!

{Sitting up but not by himself}
We started using the boppy and the bumbo to help him learn to sit up by himself. He isn't quiet there yet but he is getting stronger!

{Sleeping on his belly}
It took a few nights of rolling over and getting mad. I would have to go in and roll him back. But now he prefers to sleep on his belly!

Sleeping::

{Night time}
 He will either wake up once in the night or not at all. He goes to bed anywhere from 6:00-6:45pm and will wake up around 5:45 most mornings! Can't wait for him to extend that an hour or so! But can't complain about the sleeping through the night!

{Naps}
As I noted last month, we were really bad about naps. And it caught up with us. He was getting so overtired by 5:00 that he was screaming his head off. We were trying to do too much and needed to slow down and give him some solid sleep! Now he takes 3 naps a day, one of which is usually a long 2-3 hour nap.

Eating::

He is still eating the Alimentium Hypoallergenic Formula. He does about 5-6 bottles during the day. He eats 6 oz bottles at each feeding. He still occasionally gets up 1 time to eat in the middle of the night (2-3 am) and that bottle is about 3 oz. We started to try rice cereal but at the same time the nap issues we were having culminated. So we backed off and decided to conquer one thing at a time. Now that we have his napping under control, we might start cereal again soon.

Misc::

He is starting to scoot. He will kind of pull himself with his arms. He struggles but if you leave him sit long enough and come back, he's definitely not where you left him!

We love you little man. You are so fun and happy! We love your smiles and laughs and can't wait to see your little personality start to emerge.

Baby J {4 Months}

If you think time flies with your first kid, it is exponentially faster with the second. Don't blink! 4 months have come and gone and our sweet little boy is growing each day!

4 Month Favorites::

Exersaucer - Loves to sit up and can't quite use the bumbo yet, So this is the next best thing! He likes to sit in it and have Kaylee show him all the toys. He's even started to grab and spin some of the toys himself.

Stats::

Height: 24.5 inches (27th %tile)

Weight: 15.2 lbs (50th %tile)

Teeth: None, Although so much drooling and chewing lately I wouldn't be surprised if he had one brewing!

Clothes: 3 Month (3-6 Month)

Signature Moves::

{Rolling over}
 He rolled over for the first time 1 day before he turned 4 months old! In an attempt to differentiate from his sister. He rolled over Back to Belly first. Still hasn't mastered belly to back. Hating tummy time doesn't help! Bad news is he rolls over now in a matter of seconds and hates to be on his belly. So we have a fun routine of flipping him over every 10 seconds just so he can roll over again!

{Grabbing}
Loves to grab toys and pull them toward him. He is the king of putting EVERYTHING in his mouth and chewing on it!

Sleeping::

{Night time}
 He sleeps anywhere from 7-11 hours straight at night with the average being about 8.5 hours. The few nights he has slept all night, 11+ hours, have been glorious! Hoping he keeps it up and doesn't go through a massive regression like his sister did.

{Naps}
We are really bad about naps. He pretty much naps when and where he wants. Usually, one small nap in the AM (45 minutes) I really try to put him in his crib for this nap. His afternoon nap can typically be pretty long (2-3 hours). Usually he takes this nap in the rock and play in the front room. Kaylee is usually napping at this time as well so this is the quietest place for him. Sometimes, on a lucky day, we can squeeze a third nap out of him in the afternoon. Typically this only happens in the car! (45 minutes)

Eating::

He is still eating the Alimentium Hypoallergenic Formula. He does about 5-6 bottles during the day. He is currently hitting a growth spurt and his upped his 5 oz bottle to a 6 oz bottle and a 7 oz bottle at bedtime. He still gets up 1 time to eat in the middle of the night (2-3 am) and that bottle is about 3 oz. Occasionally he wakes up a second time in the middle of the night and gets another 3 oz bottle, but those are becoming fewer and fewer! Yay!

Misc::

Loves the car! Unlike his sister, who still at 2.5 years old HATES the car!

He is totally a morning person. Our mornings are one of my favorite times of the day. When he wakes up and his sister is still sleeping, I make my coffee and we have alone time on his play mat or my lap! He will smile and coo and talk up a storm. So cute. Definitely moments I will cherish forever! Being the second child, you don't get much one on one time with mom and dad, so I think he takes advantage of it!

He is ALMOST laughing! He does this noise that Chad says sounds like a motor starting or a frog! =) He's almost got it, it's so cute!! Can't wait for those baby belly laughs!

He LOVES his sister. She just has to walk up to him and he will start smiling! He loves when she talks to him and sings to him!

Kaylee 2.5 years

It's been over a year since I did an update on Kaylee and she has changed so much since then.

She is the sweetest little girl. She definitely has her crazy moments but overall, she is adorable. She loves her new little brother and is always trying to help out with him! We are definitely in the midst of the "Terrible Twos"! Luckily for every terrible two moment she has two adorable moments. For example she threw a fit the other day because her "back" hurt in the car seat. But then followed it up by calling me "hunny" and singing "twinkle twinkle" to her little brother!

Here is an update on her at 2.5 years old!

Stats::

Height: 3ft exactly (50th %tile)

Weight: 28.3 lbs (46th %tile)

Teeth: She has 17.5 teeth. She has her last top molar coming in now and still waiting on her bottom molars to pop through.

Clothes: 2T

{Signature moves}
She loves to come running when her little brother cries. She says "I'm coming baby brother! It's okay I'm here!!" It's about the cutest thing I've ever seen. When Chad wakes her up in the morning to go to the babysitters she makes him rub her back. She's also got quite the bedtime routine, full of books, songs, about 1000 kisses and hugs as well as "fixing" her blankets about 42 times.

{Favorite food}
A few of her favorites are waffles, yogurt, grapes, strawberries, cheeseburgers, french fries, granola bars, oatmeal, fruit snacks, hot dogs and corn.

{Favorite activities}
We put her in a gymnastics class this summer and she absolutely LOVED it! She also loves to go swimming and the park!

{Least favorite activities}
Still not the biggest fan of the car! Vacation travel is definitely going to be a rough one. Most of the time she is such a good sport about things. She is usually a pretty good kid.

{Favorite sayings}
She does not stop talking.... at all... all day long. Chad and I can't even get in a word or conversation. She is just miss chatterbox 24/7. She loves the sound of her own voice. She will just talk non sense to herself just to be talking. It's insane! Half the time when the kids are in bed, Chad and I don't even talk to each other, we are just soaking in the silence.

{Best parent award}
She has grown leaps and bounds this summer. She can count to 14 and almost to 20. She knows 95% of the letters of the alphabet and she is starting to trace letters and numbers! She is so so smart. We don't take any credit for it at all.

{Stories from the sitter}
Kaylee LOVES the school bus and her favorite part of the day at the babysitters is to get the big kids off the bus!

{Misc}
Since the last post, Kaylee has moved into a new room, got a new big girl bed and is completely day time potty trained! She is growing up so fast!!

Jordan Carter Blackburn

A little late but better late than never. We welcomed Jordan into the world on May 26th, 2016.

Birth Stats:
6 lbs 13 oz (31st %tile)
20 inches (69th %tile)

My labor started suddenly as I was getting ready to leave for work around 6:00am. I started contracting about every 10 mins. I decided to stay home but sent Chad to work and Kaylee to the sitter. I labored in bed for about an hour, then called the doctor as they were getting pretty painful, but not necessarily closer together. Because it was my second baby and I had gone quickly with my first, he said I should head to the hospital. I called chad and told him to come home. We left the house about 8:15 and arrived at the hospital about 8:40.

When I arrived in triage, they checked me and I was completely dilated and effaced and they commented my water would break anytime and when that happens, he would be born quickly. So, they rushed me to my room, got me set up with an IV, I got my epidural and it was about 10:00am when the doctor came in. She said she wanted to break my water and then I would have a baby with a few pushes.

She broke my water around 10:20, I pushed about 5 times and he was born at about 10:40am. It was a super easy labor, although super painful. I'm glad it went so quickly (under 5 hours) and I didn't end up as exhausted as I was with Kaylee!

Within the first days, Jordan was proving to be a very fussy baby who didn't sleep very much. He was having trouble breastfeeding and would scream! We all wrote it off to a fussy baby and gave it about 2 weeks before we took him to the pediatrician. She said it sounds like a classic milk intolerance and acid reflux. So, she started him on a soy formula and a reflux medicine.

A week later and many sleepless nights, we were back at the doctor. She said he's probably allergic to soy as well and might need additional reflux meds. So we stated him on a hypoallergenic formula and additional reflux meds.

Within 2 days, we had a different baby. Now that he feels better, he is a sweet, laid back little boy.

1 month stats:

21 inches (42nd %tile)
10.5 lbs (82nd %tile)

He's got the cutest rolls and everyone comments on his adorable cheeks!

Favorites::

Play mat
He loves to lay on his play mat and look at the animals hanging down, or the mirror, or even turns his head to see the TV!

His thumb

He is definately going to be a thumb sucker. Unlike his sister he wants nothing to do with a pacifier!

His family

He loves his sister, and she loves to make him smile. Which he does often. We will talk to him and he just lights up with smiles!

Milestones::

{Reaching and Swiping}

He loves grabbing things and putting them in his mouth! He also, likes to swipe at the animals on his playmat!

{Babble and mimic sounds}

He has started to "talk" to us. He makes the cutest noises and I have even heard what I think are the beginnings of a laugh. Can't wait for those baby belly laughs to start!

{Following sounds and voices}

He follows you across the room and watches you. He likes to watch TV and look at the bright screen!

Sleeping::

{Night time}
He sleeps about 8 hours straight at night right now. 7:00pm-3:00am. Then he will eat and go back down until morning between 6-7am.

{Naps}
He takes about 3-4 naps a day, depending on when he wakes up for the day. One short one in the morning, a long afternoon nap, and then another short one in the afternoon. If he wakes up early that day, he will take two short ones in the morning.

{Baptism}

We had Jordan baptized a couple weeks ago. His Godparents are Kristen Franklin and his uncle Blake. He did so good during the service and slept most of the time!

{Sucking his thumb}

This is something he has been working on lately and has recently started to get the hang of. It will be no time before he has perfected it. He HATES the pacifier, unlike his sister!

{Nicknames}

His nicknames include: J, Jord, Jordy, Jordino. As well as a ton of baby talk names like, sweet pea, cute boy, sweetheart...ect.

He has really been a great baby since those awful early days. He's laid back and let's his sister run the show! I love his sweet smiles and our alone time in the mornings before his sister wakes up. He's just the sweetest thing and we all love him so much!!
